And just like that it's all over.....

I was heartbroken and shocked to awake to the news today that EA games is shutting down Victory studios and therefore ending development on the Command and Conquer F2P game.
Click here to read the announcement.

Although the announcement by Victory games was a little cryptic at best, they seem to be pointing the finger at the community, that we were telling them this was not the game we wanted.

That's just simply not true.

Yes the game had issues, it was an Alpha after all, but C&C was on the right track. Most of us had accepted and even embraced the F2P format, realizing that an online service would enable us to have a constantly-evolving game. Victory had even announced that single player missions would be coming in 2014.
This was undoubtedly a business decision made by EA who didn't believe they would be getting a return on their investment. This is just another example of EA putting profits before customers.

I was having an absolute blast playing this game, and I was thrilled and excited to be developing a podcast that covered the development of C&C. Sadly without a C&C, CommandCast cannot continue. After only one episode I am being forced to pull the plug on this fantastic project. I would like to thank everyone who listened to the podcast and supported this project. A very big thanks to Sybert, Sabin, and, Callum for all your hard work on the first episode. And thanks to Hellbent and Sn1ckerz who were to be upcoming guests on episodes 2 and 3. You guys showed me that no matter what the C&C community is strong and will never be broken.

One day C&C will be back, and I promise CommandCast will be there to cover it.
This blog will remain open to cover and future announcements regarding C&C.
I may also do one more episode of the podcast as a "farewell to C&C" If you would like to see us to do a farewell podcast please let me know in the comment below.

News and Updates

First off I'd like to thank all of you who have listened to the first episode of the podcast. We received some very kind words and great feedback that will be applied to upcoming episodes of Commandcast. Remember this was our very first episode so things can only get better from here!
Just a few short days after we recorded episode one, Sabin and I were invited to the alpha and we've been playing the heck out of it in preparation for the next episode. Victory is releasing a rather significant patch next week which will affect many of the core aspects of the game. Episode two of CommandCast will be recorded the first week of November so we can bring you full coverage of all the updates.
Here is a short description of what you can look forward to in the next several episodes of the podcast:

- Episode 2: Ep 1 follow up, news and patch coverage, begin overall faction discussion.
- Episode 3: News, finish overall factions DQ, begin APA faction discussion
- Episode 4: News, continue APA faction DQ, begin EU faction DQ
- Episode 5: News, Continue EU faction DQ, begin GLA faction discussion.

We have guest hosts lined up for these podcasts as well, expect to see more appearances from Sybert as well as new guest hosts such as the Generals Gentleman Callum, and C&C alpha players Hellbent, and Sn1ckerz (Guests subject to change based upon availability).

Also wanted to mention that after some discussion we've decided to make the video version of the podcast for youtube feature gameplay videos in the background while the podcast audio plays over it. Thanks to Callum for volunteering to help with the video editing! Check the Commandcast youtube channel soon for the video edition of Commandcast!
Lastly, if you have questions or topics you'd like us to address on an episode of Commandcast, or if you would like to appear as a guest or guest-host, please use the contact form on the right side of the page. About CommandCast

Hello everyone my name is Will, on the radio I go by DubC. I've been playing C&C games since the very first DOS version of C&C. I developed mods for C&C games, most notable MaximaRA for the original Red Alert. Currently I'm a internet radio DJ and host for Trekradio.net and I'm looking to return to the C&C community with CommandCast.

CommandCast is an audio podcast we are developing to provide coverage and discussion regarding the upcoming Command and Conquer Free-2-Play PC game. In my opinion there is a serious lack of North American Coverage for the new C&C game. Currently the only websites dedicated to the new C&C are European. This provides an opportunity for those of us following the game to represent the western fans, who until this time have lacked a voice.

The podcast will be a discussion based format with 2-3 participants. The show will feature news, debate, interviews from people in the community, and hopefully, eventually also developer interviews. CommandCast will transmit 1-2 episodes per month which will be broadcast by Trekradio.net and available for streaming on our youtube channel.

The CommandCast blog will be your one stop for news, updates and links to new episodes of the show. Before each new show I will post a written preview of what we'll be discussing as well as supplements after the shows.

Stay tuned for the first episode of CommandCast coming very soon!
